On 7 September 2026, the Barcelona City Council launched its Dual Vocational Training (VET) programme, welcoming 303 students on intensive dual VET scholarships, from 23 professional profiles and 23 VET centres in Barcelona. They will complete their placement at the City Council on 11 June 2027.
These students will undertake 865 hours of practical training across the various departments and facilities of Barcelona City Council, including municipal districts, area management offices, and municipal institutes covering sports, culture, social services, innovation and technology, finance, housing, parks and gardens, as well as the 106 municipal nursery schools.
This initiative reflects Barcelona City Council’s commitment to vocational training. Since 2013, the Council has trained more than 3,000 VET students, establishing itself as a leading public-sector training organisation. Through this programme, it contributes to improving students’ employability and promotes local government as a potential career path within their professional development.
